Abstract

This report analyses the 2025 Tuscan regional elections, focusing on voter turnout, presidential candidates, party list performance, and the relationship between voting patterns in provincial capitals and their surrounding territories. Turnout declined sharply compared to 2020, marking a new regional low and revealing an asymmetric demobilisation that affected political blocs differently. This reduction affected all provinces in different ways.
The electoral geography shows a mixture of continuity and subtle shifts. The centre-left maintains an overall lead and records a slight strengthening in several provinces compared with the previous election—an effect that appears linked more to local mobilisation dynamics than to a uniform regional trend. The centre-right remains competitive, though its support varies more markedly across territories, reflecting long-standing geographical differences.
The analysis of presidential candidates highlights how individual profiles interact with local contexts, at times adding electoral value and at times aligning with established territorial patterns. Finally, the comparison between provincial capitals and the rest of their provinces reveals persistent contrasts, pointing to the continued relevance of urban–rural divides and localised political factors.
