Submission Preparation Checklist

As part of the submission process, authors are required to check off their submission's compliance with all of the following items, and submissions may be returned to authors that do not adhere to these guidelines.

  • The submission has not been previously published, nor is it before another journal for consideration (or an explanation has been provided in Comments to the Editor).
  • The submission file is in OpenOffice, Microsoft Word, or RTF document file format.
  • Where available, URLs for the references have been provided.
  • The text is single-spaced; uses a 12-point font; employs italics, rather than underlining (except with URL addresses); and all illustrations, figures, and tables are placed within the text at the appropriate points, rather than at the end.
  • The text adheres to the stylistic and bibliographic requirements outlined in the Author Guidelines.
  • Accessible and inclusive publishing: The manuscript adheres to requirements outlined in the "The Creating Accessible Content Guide"

INSTRUCTIONS FOR AUTHORS

  • RIEF journal accepts articles in the following languages: Italian, English, French, Spanish and Portuguese.
  • Papers should not exceed 4,000 words, including bibliographic references, abstracts and keywords, and are recommended to be submitted following the journal's editorial standards below.
  • Each submission should be accompanied by an abstract (of max. 100 words) and five keywords.
  • The article file, uploaded in the RIEF platform, must be anonymized for blind peer review. Authors are recommended to submit, separately, their own brief bio-bibliographical presentation, indicating: Name, Role, Department, University, Email.

FORMAT

  • Page layout – margin settings: LEFT 3, RIGHT 3, TOP 4, BOTTOM 4
  • Page numbers: must be included in the HEADER, TIMES NEW ROMAN 12.
  • The article text must be all JUSTIFIED and without spacing above/below (which must always be zero), when making/checking page settings by clicking the right mouse button (OPTION: “PARAGRAPH”)
  • Article title: TIMES NEW ROMAN 14, SINGLE LINE SPACING – roman type, bold
  • Author’s name: place below the title, skipping 1 line, spacing 1,5, TIMES NEW ROMAN 12 italics (in a footnote, the author must briefly state his/her qualification/role/home university, etc., TIMES NEW ROMAN 10, single line spacing, FIRST LINE 0,5)
  • Abstract and Keywords (keywords must be strictly 5): TIMES NEW ROMAN 11, single line spacing, justified
  • Overall body of the article: TIMES NEW ROMAN 12, single line spacing, first line 0,5, justified
  • Foreign words/phrases, not commonly used: italics
  • Quotation marks: in quotations, use Guillemets «xxxxx»; in other cases, high double commas: “xxx”, without overusing them. (In case of direct quotations, in brackets, next to the name of the author of the quotation and the year of edition: ALWAYS INDICATE THE PAGE/S NUMBER).
  • In case you would like to use “eccetera”, enter it in this format: xxxx, xxxxxx, ecc.

REFERENCING and CITATION

  1. In-text citation: if not exceeding 4 lines in length, quotations should be embedded in the text, according to the American reference style: (Author’s surname, year); direct quotations referring to specific page numbers: (Author’s surname, year, p./pp. xx).

Examples of in-text citation:

  • …number of specific studies on adolescents during Covid-19 (Barbagli, 1984). (NO DIRECT QUOTATION)
  • …political actions seem not to have considered the needs of adolescents’ specific age (Rossi, Vergani, 2011). (NO DIRECT QUOTATION)
  • «communication and silence, patience and resilience dialogue, trying to harmonize» (Buttorini, 1997, p. 406). (DIRECT QUOTATION: PAGE NUMBER SHOULD BE INDICATED)
  1. If exceeding 4 lines in length, quotations should be blocked, i.e. placed in a free-standing block of text, by skipping a line and starting on a new line; use TIMES NEW ROMAN 10, SINGLE LINE SPACING, FIRST LINE 0,5, JUSTIFIED.

FINAL REFERENCES/BIBLIOGRAPHY

  • Should be titled References and written in TIMES NEW ROMAN 12.
  • References should be written in TIMES NEW ROMAN 11, single line spacing, HANGING 0,5, justified. For the correct insertion of references, depending on the single source (book, collective book, journal...), see examples in the attached template.
  • WHEN CITING WEBSITES, THE FOLLOWING STATEMENT MUST ALWAYS BE ENTERED, e.g.: last access: 24.05.18). E.g.: (www.thelancet.com/action/showPdf?pii=S2352-4642%2820%2930095-X; last access: 30.04.23).
  • Websites should always be entered WITHOUT ACTIVE HYPERLINK (= always do “remove hyperlink” via right mouse button); e., as follows: www.rossi.org and not like this www.rossi.org
