Abstract
The contribution, following the announcement of new guidelines for foster care that expand and clarify those from 2012, addresses the phenomenon of foster care, showing how this institution has yet to fully unlock its educational potential, especially in the systemic relationship between families and school contexts. Through two exploratory studies, the results of which are presented, the effectiveness and actuality of the educational alliance between the two institutions are analyzed, and elements that still need further exploration are identified. In particular, the two studies highlight the need for professional figures in family mediation within the educational field, who can also create effective networks with a view to community welfare and circular subsidiarity
