About

The journal Storia delle Donne [Women's History] was founded through the collaboration of scholars specializing in different historical periods and disciplines—trained in various Italian universities—and is conceived as a publication with a strong scientific foundation.

SdD is published annually, with each issue dedicated to a single theme. This editorial choice reflects the intent to treat each issue as a unified whole, in order to better highlight, develop, and explore the significance and implications of the selected topic. The section "Beyond the Theme" features articles that are not related to the monographic focus of the issue.

At the heart of the SdD project is a commitment to the relationship between women’s history and politics—with a particular emphasis on the connection between history and policies for and with women. This is one of the reasons why the journal’s themes are selected in response to ongoing social processes and the pressing issues of our time.

The «Presente» [Present] section includes contributions that explore the topic through a deliberately multidisciplinary range of methods and perspectives, though SdD does not define itself as an interdisciplinary Women’s Studies journal. The «Passato» [Past] section presents essays that restore historical depth and diachronic breadth, spanning from ancient civilizations to the twentieth century.

The journal has a strong international outlook, both in its thematic scope and in the diversity of its contributors. Articles are published in several languages—primarily Italian, but also French, English, Spanish, and Portuguese.

All contributions submitted to SdD are subject to double-blind peer review by two independent referees, chosen from a wide pool of expert scholars.
