Abstract

The issue of the article originates from the research grant funded by the German international Daad Institution, developed at the Technische Universität of Munich, based on the study of a group of late-modern German architects as main topic. The article aims to focus especially on the work of two “master builders”, who represent the school of “detailed” designing: Karljosef Schattner (1924-2012) and Heinz Bienefeld (1926-1995). Schattner opens up a connection with the industrial field and the new production materials; Bienefeld elaborates the building body with the upgraded traditional construction techniques. These different approaches are explained by the analytical reading of emblematic works.
