Abstract

The new IBM Headquarters represents an applied research experience carried out in collaboration between Sapienza’s PDTA Department and Technische Universität München. The technological culture has played a key role in the innovation of the traditional integrated design process, providing know-how necessary for the development of technical-performance solutions, thus ensuring objectives in line with current international standards. The consulting activity on Facade Engineering with energy-environmental studies and the detailed design of the building’s façade features has allowed to combine performance targets and architectural quality, respect scheduled timing and budget, helping to attract the investments of a multinational such as IBM.
