Abstract
The goal of this paper is to analyze the current situation of e- learning in Italian prisons. The paper introduces some considerations on this topic starting from the experiences and experimentations developed in Italy and in Europe. These experiences put in evidence the need of developing a collaborative e-learning approach within the educational paths, because it is able to make prisoners more responsible and autonomous. In order to put in practice the collaborative e-learning in prisons, it is necessary to start from the prisoners’ needs, not just educational, and assume less general guidelines during the education management. Moreover, the surveyed experiences, often generously financed, underline the need of a more extensive use of ethnographic methods within the research paths and in the evaluation of the didactic and training projects developed in prisons. The introduction, the application and the development of e-learning in prisons is, in this case, a very interesting field of observation for social research.
