Playful-motor and sports education for peace in times of war. Experiences from the past, reflections on the present

Abstract

In recent years, peace education has become an urgent, crucial topic, which cannot be postponed, given the growing complexity of global challenges and international tensions. This type of education aims to promote understanding of others, tolerance, cooperation and non-violence as fundamental principles for addressing conflicts and building a more peaceful and fair society. This article intends to contribute to the debate on peace education practices, highlighting the contribution that sport and physical education can make, from a holistic and integrated perspective. Thanks to some reflections on the relationship between sport, education, politics and society, we will try to outline some perspectives of playful-motor and sports education useful for building peace in times of war, like the ones we are experiencing.

Educazione ludico-motoria e sportiva per la pace in tempi di guerra. Esperienze dal passato, riflessioni sul presente.

Negli ultimi anni, l’educazione alla pace è diventata un tema urgente, cruciale e indifferibile, data la crescente complessità delle sfide globali e delle tensioni internazionali. Questo tipo di educazione mira a promuovere la comprensione dell’altro, la tolleranza, la cooperazione e la non violenza come principi fondamentali per affrontare i conflitti e costruire una società più pacifica e giusta. Il presente articolo intende contribuire al dibattito sulle pratiche di educazione alla pace, evidenziando il contributo che lo sport e l’educazione motoria possono apportare, in un’ottica olistica e integrata. Grazie ad alcune riflessioni sul rapporto tra sport, educazione, politica e società, si cercherà di delineare qualche prospettiva di educazione ludico-motoria e sportiva utile alla costruzione della pace in tempi di guerra, come quelli che stiamo vivendo.
