Il Memoriale di Mosè: complessità di un progetto di conservazione e valorizzazione di un sito archeologico complesso

Abstract

The article treats the conservation and valorization work of the Memorial of Moses on Mount Nebo in Jordan, still being completed.
Hereby is a synthesis of the research activities and of the archaeological excavations carried out, starting from the ‘30s of the last century, through the realization of the first shelter of the Basilica in the ‘60s, until the early 2000s, when due to the urgent conservation needs was proposed a project for a new shelter and for a touristic visit system of the shrine. The new project, due to the dead of its promoter, to the problems of the site and to the political and social complexity of the region, suffered various interruptions. Now the project is almost completed and soon it will be possible to visit again this important archaeological site.
