Abstract
The case management approach in complex social-educational interventions envisages a final phase of outcome evaluation. Although crucial, the measurement of outcomes has not yet been acquired as a practice, partly because of the multidimensional nature of the needs addressed and the consequent difficulty in identifying appropriate tools. This article introduces an evaluation tool developed in the context of a project for the integrated care of vulnerable households, presenting the first results in the form of case studies. Inspired by the capability framework, the model is particularly suited to the ecosystemic approach of case management, as it can capture the complexity of beneficiaries’ needs and monitor the evolution of the different dimensions of their well-being. The experience presented in this article is significant because it introduces an innovative methodological framework for evaluating the outcomes of highly complex socio-educational interventions, which can potentially be applied in contexts other than the one analyzed.
