Abstract

This contribution describes the process of community and public narration activated by the project “La storia in soffitta” (history in the garret), implemented by a class (3 E) of the junior school “Ilio Micheloni” in Lammari (Lucca). The activity was based on the recovery of stories and objects related to the twentieth century from the families of the students who were active subjects in the course described. The relationship between different contexts (the school, the families, the territory), built through the storytelling of twentieth century, offered a concrete example of an educational path capable of orienting the role of the families within the school experience. It describes a process of generational reconnection through telling of the past. It involves the territory in which the families and the school are located, giving rise to an experience involving the entire city.
