Abstract

The contribution explores how reading can foster processes of self-knowledge and autobiographical practices, proposing the tactile illustrated book (TIB) as a mediator capable of stimulating self-narratives. Originally designed for typhlo-didactic purposes for children with visual impairments, TIB have progressively expanded in language and content, suggesting the possibility of applications for adolescents and adults as well. This is an experience aimed at university students, future education professionals: shared reading of TIBs, combined with creative reworking activities, promoted reflection and professional awareness, creating a generative space that facilitated the emergence of “multisensory” narratives.
