Abstract

Based on the author’s view and the resulting interpretive perspective, this paper retraces some important moments in Enzo Catarsi’s biography, while placing them in the season of both turbulent and fruitful innovative vitality that marked Italian early childhood pedagogy at the turn of the century. The emergence of nursery schools and the recognition of their educational value, the integrated ECEC services, family education experiences, the passion for documenting and enhancing Tuscan educational experiences: all facts that represent a source of inspiration leading to uphold the value of a human and professional story, built on a combination of fieldwork and academic reflection that still offers testimony and example.
