Abstract

A charateristic feature of early childhood pedagogy, in many Italian experiences, is represented by the centrality of the concept of the child as protagonist. Furthermore, many experiences of family education are located inside the activities developed in education and care services for early childhood. Starting from these two considerations, the articule – by explicitly referring to the experience of family education ongoing in San Miniato’s ECEC services – is aimed to underline the fact that the idea of the child as protagonist, supported by sharing the documentation about the experiences among educators and parents, can become the basis to bring also parents to the expression of an active protagonism in their parental role. The meeting of family education, coordinated by educators able to interpret a profile of “professionals without the white coat”, can be the efficient context to develop this perspective.
