Abstract
The article presents the results of a participatory action-research project conducted by the Department of Education Sciences of the University of Bologna within the so-called “Poli Millegiorni” programme, coordinated by Save The Children. In particular, it highlights methodologies and tools that have facilitated the co-construction of a “competent system”, capable of welcoming and proactively responding to the needs of children and families living in highly complex socio-cultural contexts. The article emphasizes the need to rethink Early Childhood Education and Care centres as laboratories of pedagogical experimentation, fostering the protagonism of families and children through the promotion of a pluralistic and inclusive educational culture.
