Abstract
Landscape architecture plays a crucial role in defining new paradigms for urban development, capable of implementing environmental quality and favouring biodiversity. In this sense, Parc Martin-Luther-King in Paris constitutes a sophisticated device with a high ecological value as well as a surprising catalyst of social aggregation, able of regenerating the urban area of Clichy-Batignolles. The articulate plant palette, the use of water in several forms and the application of differentiated management regimes help defining a collection of heterogeneous ecosystems where various forms of controlled interaction between human and non-human users are configured. The strong spatial dynamism and ecological variety favour the coexistence of different species, allowing the park to accommodate spaces for biodiversity alongside a rich functional programme.
