Abstract

t October 7–10, 2005, in Ft. Lauderdale, Florida there was the ASLA 2005 Annual Meeting & EXPO. This conference’s theme, Winds of Change, Keys to the Future, represented the ASLA’s will to provide the participants with the top-notch instruments for managing the winds of change in their profession and in their communities. In addition, the ASLA’s organization has selected an outstanding roster of keynote speakers, the mayor of Charleston, South Carolina; Laurie D. Olin, FASLA, Principal, Olin Partnership, Ltd., and Susan S. Szenasy, Editor-in-Chief, Metropolis magazine. Also the venue for the conference is very interesting: Fort Lauderdale known as the “Venice of America,” offers a fascinating array of natural and built landscapes and boasts twenty-three miles of beaches and three hundreds miles of inland waterways.
