Abstract

The need to stop the soil consumption has brought to the attention of many operators the urban regeneration experiences. Often they talked about it as if, to make regeneration, you only have to modify the existing buildings by means of a plan in the classical sense. Instead, the urban regeneration requires a different methodological approach, based on the essential characteristics of the integrated project; it involves the transfer of the initiative from the planner to the inhabitants and the concerned operators. For the success of the program, it is necessary to share an analysis of the potential and resources of an area, to characterize a common vision of its future, to agree the tangible and intangible resources to be mobilized and finally, assess the program effectiveness so to intervene by corrective actions. There are two implications: the directing must be public and the design process must be trans-disciplinary and trans-scalar one.
