Abstract
The distance between landscape visions, defined within local communities through diverse participatory processes and landscape planning logics at a regional scale, is expressed by conflictive landscapes. In such changing spaces, which from time to time take on a different definition, context-dependent initiatives, promoted by local authorities and based on grass-roots knowledge, interplay and clash with planning modes driven by specialised knowledge responding to different political needs and defined by homologating normative. The research explores the different approaches to such ‘contested landscapes’ through the analysis of the relationships between community inputs and planning tools definition in the experience of the Friuli Venezia Giulia Regional Landscape Plan
