Abstract

Mass communication technologies and the digitalisation of processes are weakening entities, tools, and practices belonging to the so-called “intermediate bodies” working in the social sector, the Third Sector, and knowledge dissemination activities. In this framework, even universities are losing their role when confronted with the challenges of transferring research results, trying to interact with the socio-economic dynamics and production needs of the territory. What emerges is a paradigm shift, both cultural and concerning the values of the idea of the university, where it is necessary to act without disassociating the trinomial of research, Technology Transfer and Third Mission, repositioning university institutions as mediating agents at the service of society and the common good.
