Abstract
This contribution investigates the reactivation of myth as an epistemological tool for the critical reading and transformation of the contemporary urban landscape. Through a didactic experience conducted in the Saxa Rubra area (Rome), large infrastructures, traditionally perceived as techni-cal and functional elements, are reinterpreted as Titans: mythological entities capable of generat-ing new spatial narratives. They thus acquire a symbolic-relational value, reactivating sensory and imaginative processes. An analysis conducted through five paradoxes – proximity, continuity, dis-crepancy, concealment, perception – outlines a design model oriented toward listening to places and fostering the co-existence of human and non-human subjectivities. In this perspective, myth becomes a tool to overcome the nature/culture dichotomy and to initiate design practices that are not deterministic, but generative.
