Abstract

Since the Seventies, the Piedmont Region has got a careful legislation about the “cultural and environmental goods”. The approach to the landscape traditionally pays much attention to the conservation issues, minor to pro-active policies and planning strategies. The new Regional Landscape Plan (although, not approved) shows signals of a new approach and introduces new topics, such as identity and scenic perception, the project of a multifunctional ecological network and the proposal for “integrated territorial projects”. A new law for the landscape gives a financial instrument to the programme of landscape enhancement.
