Abstract
The pedagogical focus on the first thousand days of life to which Professor Enzo Catarsi has devoted many of his studies and research is inseparably linked to my studies on adolescence and the paradigm of catastrophe on which I have focused much of my pedagogical
work. The analysis on adolescence proposed herein finds its premises in the studies on dynamical systems of the mathematician Renè Thom, offering us, in an analogical sense, a possible interpretation of the meaning that pubertal change takes on in the child subject and allows us to understand the depth of the transformations experienced by the adolescent, characterised by qualitative leaps and the irreversibility of the changes gone through. A process of redefinition of the subject that is comparable to a new birth and requires specific educational attention in order to be meaningfully accompanied in this profound inner revolution and supported in such a difficult existential metamorphosis.
