Abstract
This paper analyzes corporal punishment, understood in connection to other forms of violence, in the context of dysfunctional families, and of educational services that support family and parenting structures. On the one hand, different theories and methodological frameworks are applied, in assessing the complex and dynamic character of the family, as well as the role of sector services. On the other hand, we argue for a redefinition of family from s social perspective, as a system, which, beyond its adaptive and reflective qualities, restructures the identity of individuals and of groups involved in specific developmental and educational tasks. Educational services supporting families are therefore analyzed here as pedagogical settings, within the larger educational apparatus, while Adult Education (geared towards both parents and educators) is treated as a cultural, professional, and existential factor.
